3rd Conference Talk
(Jeff & Kay - we left you #2 so you can catch up when you get a chance!!)
Julie B. Beck - An Outpouring of Blessings
She talked mainly about the blessings of the priesthood in our lives. She said, "Priesthood blessings are the great equalizer. Those blessings are them same for men and women, for boys and girls; they are the same for married and single, rich and poor, for the intellectual and the illiterate, for the well-known and the obscure." (baby blessing, baptism, receiving the holy ghost, taking the sacrament, patriarchal blessings, temple ordinances.)
President Benson said: when we go to the temple and are married and receive those blessings of the marriage covenant, we enter into the same order of the priesthood that God instituted in the very beginning with father Adam.
She also talked about how we receive equally in the blessings of spiritual gifts. Not that we all receive the same gifts, but all have spiritual gifts to bless others. She said, "Spiritual gifts are numerous and varied and come to us as we seek them and use them appropriately." She told a story of being sick frequently as a child and how her father was always willing and worthy to give her a blessing and how her mother also had been gifted to find answers about medical treatment and to comfort her.
We just want to challenge everyone to take a minute to think about and be grateful for all the times that you have been blessed by spiritual blessings and to think about something you want to ask Heavenly Father to bless you to become better at that might help you and others. Love ya all,
the Hodges Family

Thanks to the Hodges
I know that the Priesthood is a great power that the Lord has shared with us so we can have the power to have covenants and ordinaces to bless us. The Priesthood is one of those huge differences between the true church of Christ and the churches of the world; I am so greatfull that we have this power to bless our lives and for that matter to bless the world.
I do need to ask Heavenly Father to bless me to have his spirit that I might be able to lift and strengthen others. I know that I spend way too much time concerned about poor little me instead of looking for opportunity to lift another. I am going to start to pray for this gift in my life and for the wisdom to use it.
Just to add to my own comments. Emma had her surgery to get her tonsils out today and Kimball asked her last night if she wanted a blessing from her dad before. I didn't even think of it and thought it was so special for her dad to think to do that for her and to be able to give her that special blessing of comfort and healing and what a teaching by example opportunity even for our little children. Thank you Kimball
It is really fun to read what others have said. I also often ask for blessings for myself and just recently have been trying to concentrate more of my prayers on others. I have a greater love for my kids and for the young women in my ward just by taking the time to pray for them.
I'm glad you posted that little story about Kimball and Emma. I didn't know Emma was getting her tonsils out. Now I know to add a special blessing for her and for your family next time I pray.
Also about the priesthood. I have used Ryan's priesthood many times when I have been pregnant or we just had a newborn and it has really blessed and lifted me in those times of trial. But I also need to remember the priesthood for my kids use as well.
